REPORTS TO: TEAM LEADER/HOUSE LEADER

SCOPE: SERVICE IN CAFÉ, GUESTS AND TEAM

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an extraordinary customer experience by making genuine connection with our guests, discussing our menu and making recommendations when appropriate. Also perform other duties in the areas of food and final order preparation.

ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Laney & Lu
  • Follow and practice all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs and followed and completed on a timely basis
  • Ensure that all customers feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times
  • Receive orders and process guest payments
  • Prepare and/or serve hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, teas, etc.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other team members for preparation of orders and completion of tasks
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment
  • Describe menu items to guest or suggest products that might appeal to them
  • Provide guest with product details, such as ingredients and preparation descriptions without compromising intellectual properties
  • Be responsive to customer complaints regarding food quality, service or accommodations in a manner consistent with Laney & Lu commitment to delivering legendary customer experience
  • Clean service and/or seating areas
  • Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, donuts, or grab n’ go snacks
  • Prepare, present or serve menu items, such as smoothies/bowls, wraps or salads to Laney & Lu standards and excellence
  • Mindfully limit, monitor, and record food and packaging waste for the benefit of the business’ success and the planet
  • Set-up or restock product displays
  • Stock guest service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items
  • Wrap, label, or date food items for sale
  • Take out garbage, linens, compost and recycling
  • Receive or stock supplies or retail products
  • Follow, complete, and verify work checklists including opening, closing, food preparation and periodic maintenance
  • Prepare items for food service; slice, chop, shred, soak, dice, etc.
  • Attend all scheduled team meetings
  • Offers suggestions for continuous improvement of employee and guest experience
  • Coordinate with team employees to meet customer needs and support the operation of the café
  • Fill-in for team members where needed to ensure excellence in service and efficient operations
  • Ensure coverage of all assigned shifts

Soul Server II is responsible for all activities and responsibilities above and will have demonstrated a level of excellence that allows them to train others. Additionally, a Soul Server II may be assigned other duties with the interest of continued development such as open/close register including cash handling and reconciliation at close of business, possession of a house key and advancement with the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Alignment with Laney & Lu Honor Code and passion for Core Values
  • Strong communication skills that engage people in a genuine, authentic way
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, and easily adapts and responds to change
  • Able to understand and speak using the predominant language(s) of guests 
  • Excellent basic mathematical skills 
  • Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system 
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stamina and availability to work up to 40-50 hours per week, for full-time employees
  • Availability to work at lease 1 weekend shift
